Rare large example of this classic design by Gunnel Nyman. Designed in 1947 for Nuutajarvi Notsjo in Finland. Design code number GN18. Internally decorated with a white opal spiral to resemble a ribbon, twirled by a rythmic gymnast. This became popular in the 1940's after Russian ballet dancer Asaf Messerer.
The earliest Serpentiinis ranged from 38cm to 42cm in height and were wider. The opal spiral was also staighter. A few later examples were produced much taller.
